Join The Bronx Museum of the Arts for an exciting First Fridays! program “Latin Soundscapes” featuring Ibrahim González and his Latin Jazz Quintet. And don’t forget your dancing shoes. The Latin beat is sure to get you on your feet.The Quintet features Ivan Renta on Sax and Flute, Arturo Ortiz on Keyboard, Donald Nicks on Bass, Diego Lopez on Drums, and Ibrahim González on Congas and Percussion.Admission is free. For more information, please visit www.bronxmuseum.org Ibrahim González heads three bands as a percussionist and keyboardist. They include: The Nuyorican Jazz Experience, an octet exploring new compositions; The Ibrahim González Quartet, which performs traditional standards of Salsa and Latin Jazz; and Overnite Cabal, for which Gonzalez composes new music that defies genre. At Pacifica Radio’s WBAI, he hosts and produces, In The Moment, overnight freeform radio and The Barrio Block which spans the hemispheric scope of Latino culture & music. As an educator, Professor González teaches, history of Salsa, Piano, Latin Percussion, Digital Audio Recording and Editing at Manhattan College. His freelance career includes: cartography, video production and photography.
